Somerford Youth & Community Centre

A bespoke WordPress website for Somerford Youth & Community Centre, built so their own team can manage it.

The brief

The centre needed a website that reflected everything they offer — youth clubs, community events, and support services — to a wide range of people, including young people, students, parents and local residents. Their old site was hard to update and didn't reflect who they were.

The centre runs on a small team, so the site also had to work without one. That meant staff needed to add events, update services and post notices themselves, without waiting on a developer every time something changed.

What I built

I designed and built the site solo, working directly with the centre manager from early wireframes through to a finished homepage that puts events and services front and centre.

It's built on WordPress with role-based access, so staff only see the tools relevant to them rather than a full admin menu, and custom content types for events and services that keep information organised without extra effort each time something new is added.

Outcome

The centre has been running the site since January 2026, with their own team keeping events, services and notices up to date without needing outside help.
